Tom Neppl, Great Rivers Local Council of Leaders Co-Chair will be honored with the Service Award at the ACA National Conference. Congratulations Tom!
Tom Neppl is a licensed Landscape Architect with a professional and academic interest in environmental design and outdoor education. In practice, he works with camps and outdoor centers nationwide in the development of environmentally sensitive master plans of their programs, sites and facilities. As a lecturer at Iowa State University, he teaches design studio courses with a focus on environmental design in the built environment. Tom speaks regularly at regional and national camp, parks & recreation and environmental conferences. He is an active member of the ACA, serving as the Co-Chair of ACA Great Rivers, as a member of the ACA’s Children, Nature and Camps Committee, and as a recent member of the Task Force on the Local Council of Leaders. Tom was instrumental in the development of SCLA in the Midwest. Tom studied at Kansas State University where he received a Bachelor’s in Agriculture and a Master’s in Landscape Architecture and Regional and Community Planning.
The Service Award is given to recognize continued and increasing service beyond the local level. It is awarded to an ACA member who has already received a section/local award and continues to give service to at least three sections/areas or districts.
Twenty-three people and programs will receive awards for their innovation, service, and contribution to camp. Read More
